Effective Email Marketing Campaigns

Delivering effective email marketing campaigns to your customers and leads is an important piece of your overall marketing strategy. But what makes an email marketing campaign effective? How do you ensure you are properly delivering a message about your products and services without over inundating (and perhaps losing) your customers and leads?

View your email marketing campaign more as a communication line with your clients. Don’t simply use it to pedal your services, because to your client-base, that may seem as what you are doing.

Email Marketing Strategy

If you are looking at beginning an email marketing campaign, follow these steps to get started:

  • Your email marketing plan should be incorporated into your overall marketing plan. It should be a segment on how you plan to communicate to customers and leads. If it’s not, review your overall plan and decide how email marketing fits in before you spend time, energy, money, and resources on it
  • Develop a strategy: Don’t just email your client-base for the sake of emailing. This is the quickest way to turn them off. Develop a well thought out strategy and follow it. Your email marketing should have a purpose. If it’s developed for the sake of emailing, you will fail.
  • Don’t use your campaign to pedal your services and products. Use your campaign to communicate to your clients; tell a story.
  • Stay on schedule. Create a calendar of when you send your email campaign. Whether it be weekly, monthly, quarterly, etc., stay on a schedule. A set schedule helps you stay on course and helps your client-base know what to expect from you and your business.

Stay on course with your email marketing plan and strategy. Talk to your customers about what is relevant and how you can help their business; don’t talk at them. If your strategy and plan is effective, your readers will follow.
